Hospiscare Heroes - From Gardening to Saving the Change

Here at Hospiscare, we are extremely grateful to all of our supporters and we love to see the innovative ways that our Hospiscare Heroes find to fundraise for us! Read on for the latest updates on how our Hospiscare Heroes have been supporting our charity across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Otter Garden Centre Cheque Presentation

A huge thank you to Otter Garden Centre in Ottery St Mary who chose Hospiscare as their Charity of the Year in 2019. Their fundraising efforts over the year raised a phenomenal £11,542!

Branch Manager, John Giblin said: “Our fundraising efforts were helped immensely by the support we had from the Otter Vale Friends of Hospiscare, a local group of volunteers who supported many of our fundraising activities.

“They were amazing and worked really hard to make the partnership a success, which is reflected in the brilliant amount raised.”

Fundraising events held during the year included a tombola at the garden centre in April and another at the Ottery Food & Families Festival in June, along with staff quiz events and bingo nights.

Otter Garden Centre are continuing their support of Hospiscare in 2020 and the volunteers from Otter Vale Friends are looking forward to another successful fundraising year and to equal - if not better - last year’s total!

Nourish Topsham Hospiscare cheque presentation

Thank you also to Sarah and all of her customers at Nourish in Topsham and Exeter. Sarah has been running a brilliant charity round-up with her customers since March 2018. Customers are given the option to round-up their bill to the nearest round number and donate the amount to Hospiscare. Nourish matches whatever the customer chooses to donate.

Sarah has just presented our Topsham Support Group with a cheque for an amazing £1,600!

Blundells School pupils and staff with Hospiscare at a cheque presentation

Finally, thank you to Blundell's Preparatory School in Tiverton for hosting our community fundraiser, Denise Hook, and our Community Nurse Specialist, Harriet Nicholls. Denise and Harriet spoke to the pupils at Blundells about our care and fundraising efforts in their community.

Blundell's raised a whopping £2,177.50 over the Christmas period through holding Christmas Markets and selling Christmas cards and a range of other items.

The staff and pupils were also happy to don our Men's Walk, Twilight Walk and fundraising vests, as well as pose with a host of props!

We love seeing all that you do for Hospiscare, so if you are planning any fundraising, please send us a direct message us on Facebook or email so that we can celebrate your efforts. We couldn't do what we do without you.
