Directions to Searle House, Exeter

Hospiscare’s specialist ward at Searle House in Exeter is located near RD&E. It’s easy to reach by car and there are good public transport links.

Searle House by car: 

The postcode for satnav is EX2 5JJ. Be aware: the end of Dyden Road, connecting to Bovemoors Lane and Wonford Street is now permanently closed to cars, so follow the below directions for access.

From the M5:

  • Exit at junction 30 and take the A379 towards the city centre. 
  • At Countess Weir roundabout (by the Shell garage) turn right into Topsham Road. 
  • Turn right just past the army barracks into Barrack Road. 
  • Turn right at the next traffic lights into Dryden Road. 
  • Take the next left into the grounds of Wonford House. 
  • Turn left in front of the main house, then go straight ahead down the ramp to Hospiscare.

From the city centre:

  • Follow the signs to the M5, which will direct you along Topsham Road. 
  • Turn left before the army barracks into Barrack Road, and then follow the directions above. 

There is limited free parking for visitors and additional paid parking nearby.

Searle House by bus: 

Take the H bus from Exeter city centre. It stops at the RD&E Hospital entrance from where it’s a short (5 minute) and easy walk to the hospice. For other bus routes, please see the RD&E website

By park and ride: 

The best way to avoid parking problems is by using the park and ride service from Digby, PR3. Parking is free and an easy access bus will bring you to the hospital entrance. 

Searle House by train:

The nearest stations are Exeter Central and Exeter St David’s. The H bus will bring you from the station to the hospital entrance. On Sundays and public holidays, it may be necessary to get a taxi, which will take 15-20 minutes.

 

Directions to Pine Lodge, Tiverton

Pine Lodge by car:

The postcode for satnav is EX16 4FP.

From the M5, leave the motorway at J27 and at the roundabout follow signs for the A361 to Tiverton. Once on the A361, take the first slip road and turn left at the roundabout (first exit). Follow the road through Sampford Peverell village and at the fork bear right to continue on ‘Lower Town’ and cross the canal, then continue straight to continue onto the ‘Turnpike’.  Continue on this road for approx. 1.5 miles, to merge onto High St, Halberton. Follow High St through the village and bear left at the fork.  Continue on this road for 1.5 miles, travelling past Tiverton Golf Cub on your right.  Shortly after the golf club, you will see the sign on your right for Hospiscare. Take the turning and follow the road for approx. 200 metres.

Pine Lodge by bus:

The nearest bus stop to Pine Lodge is ‘Fairway’. which is served by Stagecoach buses 1 and 1A from Tiverton and Cullompton, Tiverton and Uffculme.  The Fairway bus stop is approx. 500 metres by foot from Pine Lodge.

Pine Lodge by train:

Tiverton Parkway is the nearest train station.

Directions to Kings House, Honiton

Kings House by car

From Exeter / A30

Follow signs to A30 / Honiton. Once on the A30, take the exit for the A375 for Honiton and Heathpark. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Exeter Rd. At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit to go straight on onto High St. After approximately half a mile, turn right onto New St (with Lloyds Bank on the corner) and take the first right onto King St. After approximately 40 metres, Kings House is on the right.

From Axminster / A35

Follow the A35 Axminster Road to Honiton, until it merges into Kings Road on the approach to Honiton. At the roundabout signposted ‘town centre’ to the left and ‘Exeter / Andover’ to the right, take the 1st exit to turn left toward the town centre. Follow the High St for approx. 0.3 miles, then turn left onto New St and take the 1st right onto King St. After approximately 40 metres, Kings House is on the right.

Kings House by bus

Kings House is served by buses 4 and 4B from Axminster and bus 9 from Exeter. The nearest bus stop is Lace Walk (High St).

Kings House by train

Kings House is a four minute walk from Honiton train station.
