Men’s Walk: Your Way

Men’s Walk: Your Way

Walk a route of your choice wherever you want, and help raise vital funds for Hospiscare.

Entries for Men’s Walk are now closed! Thank you to all those who signed up in advance. Don’t forget, you can still come down to Double Locks and sign up on the day for £35 per person.

What to expect

On Saturday 9 March, choose to walk it ‘Your Way’ by choosing your own 7-mile route (or more, or less) and location. We’ll post your Men’s Walk t-shirt, pint from Exeter Brewery and pasty from Chunk of Devon to you a couple of days before the event. You can then watch the Six Nations England v. Ireland game in the comfort of your own home. It’s Men’s Walk but your way!

The key things to know about Men’s Walk: Your Way are…

  • Walk your own route, local to you, on Saturday 9 March 2024
  • We will send you your Men’s Walk t-shirt, Chunk of Devon pasty and Exeter Brewery beer in advance of the event
  • We have an exclusive Men’s Walk Strava Club for you to be able to log your walk and keep up to date with how other Men’s Walkers are doing on the day
  • The Six Nations England v. Ireland game kicks off at 16:45 and will be broadcast on ITV

Plan a route of your choice. We suggest you plan your walk location and route in advance. Please take into consideration the following:

• Choose / plan a walk route that is safe and a sensible distance for you and appropriate to your fitness level
• Plan to walk a route that is open to the public, easily accessible and well-lit if light is poor
• Ideally do not walk alone
• Carry a mobile phone in case of emergency
• Only walk in appropriate weather and wear appropriate clothing and footwear
• Take a hydrating drink on your walk and avoid alcohol consumption
• Adhere to all current Covid-19 government guidance

Last year, a handful of people signed up to Men’s Walk: Your Way and then joined us at Double Locks. Please do not do this as it will ultimately cost Hospiscare money. If you sign up for Men’s Walk: Your Way we won’t be expecting you at Double Locks.

What to wear / take

What to wear / take

Please wear your Men’s Walk t-shirt. It will be fantastic to see all our Men’s Walkers in their t-shirts across Devon and beyond.

Although the Men’s Walk t-shirt is synonymous with the event, we’re asking those who have a Men’s Walk t-shirt from previous years, to wear it at Men’s Walk 2024 to help us keep costs down and reduce the event’s environmental impact.

If you are taking part in Men’s Walk Your Route, you do not need a walker number.

Although they are not currently mandatory, you may like to carry a facemask while walking. We also suggest you take a bottle of hand sanitiser. We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers or walking shoes and appropriate clothes for the weather on the day you are walking – layers are good so you can adapt your clothing to any changes in the weather. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well worn in.
