Men’s Walk: Your Route

Walk a route of your choice wherever you want, and help raise vital funds for Hospiscare. Please note: registrations for Men's Walk: Your Route have now closed.

What to expect

On Saturday 12 March, choose to walk an 8 mile route (or more) of your choice, wherever you want. We’ll post your Men’s Walk t-shirt, pint from Exeter Brewery and pasty from Chunk of Devon to you a couple of days before the event. You can then watch the Six Nations England v. Ireland game in the comfort of your own home.  It’s Men’s Walk but your way!

The key things to know about Men’s Walk: Your Route are:

  • Walk your own route, local to you, on Saturday 12 March 2022
  • We will send you your Men’s Walk t-shirt, Chunk of Devon pasty and Exeter Brewery beer in advance of the event during the week commencing 7 March
  • We have an exclusive Men’s Walk Strava Club for you to be able to log your walk and keep up to date with how other Men’s Walkers are doing on the day
  • The Six Nations England v. Ireland game kicks off at 16:45 and will be broadcast on either BBC1 or ITV1 TBC

Should things change from the current situation it will be essential that all our Men’s Walk participants are abiding by any current government guidelines. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the latest guidelines by visiting the government website and adhere to the relevant guidance - thank you.



Plan a route of your choice. We suggest you plan your walk location and route in advance. Please remember to comply with any current government COVID-19 guidelines and take into consideration the following:
• Plan / map a walk route that is safe and a sensible distance for you and appropriate to your fitness level
• Plan to walk a route that is open to the public, safe and easily accessible and well-lit if light is poor
• Ideally do not walk alone
• Carry a mobile phone and torch in case of emergency
• Only walk in appropriate weather (avoid rain and very sunny days) and wear appropriate clothing and footwear
• Take a hydrating drink on your walk and avoid alcohol consumption
• Adhere to all current COVID-19 government guidance

Please wear your Men’s Walk t-shirt. It will be fantastic see all our Men’s Walkers in their t-shirts across Devon and beyond. We suggest you also have your own face mask and hand sanitiser whilst walking. We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers or walking shoes and appropriate clothes for the weather on the day you are walking – layers are good so you can adapt your clothing to any changes in the weather. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well worn in.

How to use Strava

Strava is a free activity tracking app, so you can record your Men’s Walk on the app as well as share it in the Men’s Walk Strava Club.

How to download Strava on your smart phone:

  • Apple: go to the App Store search Strava and download.
  • Android: go to Play Store search Strava and download.

Then simply sign up with either your email address or Facebook account.

Once you’re set up, you might want to consider the following:

Paying in sponsorship

If you’re fundraising online, JustGiving (or other platforms) will automatically send us the money you’ve raised. If you’d like to pay in what you’ve raised via our website, please visit and select ‘I have taken part in a sponsored event’. Simply use the text box to let us know you’ve taken part in Men’s Walk. If you’d rather send us a cheque, please make it payable to ‘Hospiscare’ and post it along with your sponsorship form to Fundraising, Hospiscare, Searle House, Dryden Road, Exeter EX2 5JJ. Please note: In order for us to claim Gift Aid on eligible donations, you’ll still need to send us a copy of your sponsorship form.
