Hospiscare Heroes – From quizzing companies to mega marathons!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone at Wilkinson Grant who held their annual quiz night on Thursday 2 November. The event brought together teams from local businesses to raise money for Hospiscare. The event was a great success filled with lots of laughter! A special thank you to Exeter City Football Club for the venue, Wilkinson Grant’s Senior Associate Director Wendy Aspland for organising the event, their own entertaining host Associate Director Daniel Radford, and the wonderful raffle prize donators from local businesses. We are so grateful to be supported by such kind local businesses. You can watch a video from the event here!

We must pay a very special thank you to supporter Rachel Atherton. Following her success in the Chicago Marathon in 2022, on Sunday 5 November, Rachel took on the New York City Marathon for Hospiscare in memory of her brother, David. Having been offered a ballot space unexpectedly due to a cancellation, Rachel said:

“I’ve said it before but…not training for a marathon is one thing, but not taking the opportunity to raise some money for charity would be unacceptable!”

This is the 4th World Marathon Major Rachel has completed and we couldn’t be more grateful for her ongoing support. Congratulations, Rachel – and thank you for going the distance to make a difference! You can contribute to Rachel’s incredible fundraising effort here!
