Hospiscare Heroes – From family fundraisers to multiple mountains!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

Firstly, we would like to pay thanks to a fabulous family of fundraisers! Sadie Heddon and her children held a coffee morning for Hospiscare at their home in September and raised an amazing £165.30.  It has been so wonderful to see the efforts of our community supporters during September who have been getting involved in the Coffee Morning campaign. Thank you so much for everyone who got together to organise and hold these community events! Your support helps us so much and we are so grateful.

Next, we have some hardy Hospiscare Heroes who have taken on half marathons in aid of our charity. Isa, took on the Bath Half Marathon for Hospiscare. This was Isa’s first half marathon, but she crossed the finish line in an impressive 2 hrs 20 minutes and raise a fantastic £217 for Hospiscare. Thank you, Isa!

You can show support for Isa’s fundraising and make a donation here.

Another dedicated supporter is Rebecca Jones.  Rebecca conquered the Bath Half at the weekend and raised a brilliant £200 for Hospiscare. Rebecca is also in preparation for representing #TeamHospiscare at the London Marathon in 2024, thank you for these amazing feats Rebecca!

A committed crew of friends took on an amazing effort at the Eden Project Half Marathon at the weekend. Inspired by their good friend, Zach, who sadly passed away after a 10-month battle with cancer, Toby, Daniel J, Harry, Andrew, Connor, Clare, Alex, Emma, Daniel T, Natasha and Sophie decided to tackle the Eden Project Half Marathon to help raise vital funds for Hospiscare. Having crossed the finish line, the team have raised an incredible £3,040 in memory of Zach and we couldn’t be more grateful for their efforts. Taking on a challenge in memory of a loved one is such a special thing to do and helps ensure that we can be there for other patients and their families when they need us most. Huge thanks to Toby, Daniel J, Harry, Andrew, Connor, Clare, Alex, Emma, Daniel T, Natasha and Sophie for being true Hospiscare Heroes.

Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Team Nexus for their latest ultimate challenge. The team consisted of John, Debbie, Joshua and Alexander of Nexus Open Systems. The team took their fundraising to new heights and conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) all in 24 hours! Over the course of two days, the intrepid Hospiscare Heroes trekked 26 miles and their climb totalled almost 3,000m. Together, the team have raised a phenomenal amount for Hospiscare and we couldn’t be more grateful for all their efforts!
