Hospiscare Heroes – From cheque champions to tree troopers!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

Firstly, we would like to thank two participants from our Reindeer Run event that took place throughout December in local schools, nurseries and groups. Some amazing little ones, parents and teachers came together for festive fun, fitness, and fundraising all for a good cause!

Hurly Burly Tiverton was one of the nurseries who got their little ones involved. The final total for their sponsored Reindeer Run was an incredible £162.95! Thank you to Manager, Charlie, and all of the staff and children who took part.

Another mention is for Willand Pre School and Gables Nursery who also got involved in this festive fundraiser. The final total for their sponsored Reindeer Run was a remarkable £537.50! Thank you Manager, Claire, Maisie and all of the staff and children who took part.

Sharon, Hospiscare Area Fundraiser, visited both last week and was amazed by the atmosphere and how sweet and caring the children were. These two efforts were significant in the amounts raised considering their small scale! They all had such fun for such a great cause! Thank you to all those that generously donated to raise vital funds for our local and independent end of life charity here in the Heart of Devon.

Next, we feature a cheque presentation from a fundraising success story. We would like to thank Katie and her family for holding a spectacular firework night in Hemyock, Mid Devon in November. All proceeds and donations were collected for Hospiscare in memory of family friend, Matt who received our specialist support. The event was a great success with £700 raised in total!

Thank you for supporting Hospiscare and enabling us to continue providing such needed care locally.

Finally, we must highlight the champion efforts showcased by all those involved in this years Christmas Tree Recycling! A huge thank you to everyone involved with our Collection! In partnership with Just Helping our volunteers went out collecting trees in Exeter, Exmouth, Ottery St Mary, Honiton, Sidmouth, Tiverton and Crediton!

The team of 78 trusty volunteers collected an incredible 2067 trees and raised a record £38,000!

We would also like to thank all the local businesses who kindly donated their time and resources to assist with our Christmas Tree Recycling. These are: University of Exeter Grounds Team, Thornes Farm Shop, Exmouth Rugby Club, Dormakaba, Otter Garden Centre, Woodlando Ltd, Jurassic Tree Services, Hartland Tree Works, Coastal Recycling, Thrifty Van and Car Hire, Britannia Lanes, Shift It Waste, Throw and Tow, Wain Homes, Pro House Clearance, Dana, Taylor Lewis, Mears, Devon Minor Works, Suez Recycling and Recovery, Hi Line, Alplyne Grass, Thomson Reuters, To-and-Fro, Blampayne Saw Mills and Western Treeworks.

Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.
