Introducing our new pop-up charity shop in Exeter

Find out about our new charity shop in Exeter City Centre

We’re excited to share that we have opened a brand-new, pop-up charity shop in Exeter City Centre, stocking a range of pre-loved clothing, unique décor and much more.

The shop is located on Sidwell Street, opposite John Lewis, who kindly partnered with us providing a team of staff to help with preparations ahead of opening – we are so grateful for their time and support!

Jack Nex, Partner & Operations Manager at John Lewis in Exeter says, “Hospiscare is a very special local charity that has touched the lives of many of our partners and their families. Part of our purpose is to make the world a happier place, so we were delighted to be able to offer our support to our new neighbours on Sidwell Street, and we hope it can be the start of a lasting partnership.”

Rhodri Morgan, Retail Director at Hospiscare explains, “We are delighted to be adding to the store estate and growing the awareness for the work we do at Hospiscare. I thank the team at John Lewis for providing us with staff to help with the setup of the store and long may this relationship continue. Here’s to a great period of trading from our new store!”

Our charity shops play a vital role in supporting our specialist services, helping to raise the funds required to support around 2,000 patients and families living with terminal illness across the heart of Devon every year. With just 18% of our income funded by the NHS, and our operational costs rising by 13%, we need to raise approximately £10 million a year to continue providing this support.

Plans are in place for the new shop to be open for approximately 12 months.

Interested in volunteering in our new shop?

We are currently seeking shop volunteers to help in our Sidwell Street shop. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, give back to your community and support local end-of-life care.

Shop volunteers have a varied role, including serving customers, creating window displays, sorting donations, preparing clothing for sale, replenishing stock, and promoting Hospiscare’s Lottery. We’ll provide all the training and support you need to be fully equipped to volunteer.

If you are interested in volunteering, visit www.hospiscare.co.uk/volunteer to find out more and apply online, or pop into the shop for an informal chat.
