Hospiscare Heroes – Light up a Life and 12 Days of Care

This week, we are sending out a special thank you to those who supported Light up a Life and 12 Days of Care over the festive period

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes.

This week, we are sending out a special thank you to everyone who supported our Light up a Life broadcast in December and our 12 Days of Care initiative during the festive period.

Light up a Life

Every December, we hold our Light up a Life services to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. Like everything this year, our Light up a Life services took place a little differently with an online broadcast replacing the church services.

Despite all of the changes, we enjoyed an evening of remembrance and togetherness through the online broadcast. This broadcast could not have taken place without the sponsorship of Walter H Squires & Sons. We are also so grateful to Maynards School Choir and Kocapoli for contributing their musical talents to the broadcast.

Our Tree of Light was able to shine on Exeter’s Cathedral Green thanks to the following: Exeter Cathedral, Heaver Brothers, Sherwoods Electrical, Clinton Devon Estates and Coastal Recycling.

12 Days of Care

As the local hospice charity for Exeter, Mid and East Devon, we rely heavily on the generous support of local people to fund their vital service – at Christmas and all year round. In 2020, with our funding badly impacted due to COVID-19, this was especially important.

In November, we asked local businesses to make the difference of a lifetime to local families facing terminal illness during the holiday period. We launched our 12 Days of Care initiative which appealed to our business community to sponsor a period of care on the hospice ward in the lead-up to Christmas. 24 local businesses signed up to our initiative and together they raised an amazing £14,500!

We are so grateful to all of the fantastic local businesses that supported our 12 Days of Care: Alansway Body Repair, Bradleys Estate Agents, Burrington Estates, Commercial Managed IT, Coverstructures, E-Plus, Exe Mortgages, Exeter and District Funeral Directors, Home Instead Senior Care Exeter & East Devon, Howdens Exmouth, Hunter Urology, Jurassic Fibre, LHC Design, Macwhirter Western Ltd, Marley Comms, Overmass & Chapple, Palmers Garage, RMC Build, Shoobridges Funeral Services, The Dolphin School, Tozers Solicitors, William Highbourne Wealth Management Ltd, Wollens Solicitors, and World of Country Life.
