Hospiscare Heroes – From ultramarathons to cycle challenges

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Brett Sellick who took on an incredible challenge this weekend to raise vital funds for Hospiscare. Brett tackled a 50km ultramarathon from Lyme Regis to Exmouth in memory of his dad, Gary, who sadly passed away in February this year after a short, brave battle with cancer. Brett says, “For the last few weeks of Dad’s life, Hospiscare were there day in and day out to help him. The courage they show every day is really inspiring.”

Brett’s ultramarathon has raised over £1,500 so far! To donate, please click here.

We would also like to give enormous thanks to Alan Rowe whose incredible walking challenge, tracing the boundary of our care, raised over £3,500 for our charity!

We are so grateful to Grace who held a mini table-top sale at the bottom of her garden, selling her books, toys, DVDs and more. Thank you for supporting our local charity Grace!

Thank you also to Honiton Bowling Club for their very generous donation of £1,000. The club sold books, jigsaw puzzles and bowling equipment to raise the funds.

A group of secondary school students with two big cheques

Thank you to Rotary Interact and Tiverton High School for presenting Hospiscare with this generous donation of £2,216.

People in an office at a cake table

Thank you to Craddys who held a Jubilee cake sale in their office and raised £40 for Hospiscare! A special mention must go to Cameron Hebbes who made the favourite bake – a carrot cake.

A cycle challenge poster descend to the end

Thank you to Nexus Open Systems whose team are currently undertaking an epic cycle challenge to raise funds for Hospiscare. From their office in Exeter to Lands End, four team members will be pedalling their socks off to cycle 150 miles in just two days!
