Hospiscare Heroes – From pig racing to coastal challenges

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A group of people holding a Hospiscare banner and balloons

We are sending a huge thank you to Kim Ingersent and her family for raising an incredible £600 in memory of Kim’s mum, Linda. The family really threw themselves into their fundraising for Hospiscare by organising social events and table top sales, as well as selling sweet cones to raise funds. We are so grateful to Kim and her family for supporting our hospice in Linda’s memory.

Thank you also to the Honiton and District Lions Club whose recent mole screening day in Honiton raised £600 for Hospiscare!

Thank you to Katie Redfern who will be running the London Marathon for Hospiscare in October and as part of her participation, Katie has pledged to raise a minimum of £2,000 for our hospice! Katie recently held a cream tea fundraiser in Starcross, which included games like splat the rat and a penalty shoot-out, and raised a whopping £1,700! A couple on a coastal challenge start line

Thank you to Kelly Smith and her husband who took on the South West Coast Challenge to raise funds for Hospiscare. Kelly completed the full 50km route in just over 13 hours, walking in memory of ‘P-bus Grandma’. The Smiths have raised over £500 to date. Click here to donate to their fundraising.

A man shouting into a microphone

Thank you to Bruv’s Bar in Honiton for holding a pig racing night in aid of Hospiscare, resulting in a grand fundraising total of £618.21! Thank you to everyone who came and donated so generously and a special thanks to all of those who re-donated their winnings.

Finally, we would like to thank ‘The Otter Trotters’ – sisters Samantha Durkin and Rachel Nicklin – who took on the 25km route of the South West Coast Challenge for Hospiscare. The sisters have raised over £500 so far and to donate to their fundraising, please click here.
