Can I register on the day?
Yes. Registration before the day (online or call into the fundraising office 01392 688020 in office hours) will close midnight on Tuesday 25th September 2018 however you will be able to sign up on the day within the Event Arena. Please note that the entry fee 'on the day' will be £20 for an adult & £10 for a child or £55 for a family (2 adults and 2 children).
Can I get food and drink at the event?
You will be offered water and a banana prior to the walk and once the walk has been completed you will of course receive your free breakfast consisting of a bacon bap/veggie alternative with a hot drink.
To cut back on single use plastic we will not be providing bottles of water but ask that runners bring their own water bottles which can be refilled. There will be Hospiscare branded water bottles for sale should you forget your bottle.
What is the terrain like?
The route undulates & takes you through woods and open fields. The ground can be muddy under foot if there has been recent rainfall.
What happens if I cannot finish the walk/run?
If you cannot finish and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe.
Will it be safe?
Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on, fully charged and with plenty of credit on it. The route will be marshalled and signed.
Will there be first aid facilities?
We will have first aiders available at Knighthayes and out on the route.
Will there be toilets on the route?
Toilet facilities will be available at the event arena.
What should I wear?
We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers! Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well-worn in.
To get into the spirit of the event pyjamas would be great, but not compulsory! Comfort is the name of the game, so shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer.
Will I be able to buy merchandise at the event arena?
There will be Hospiscare branded goods on sale including new water bottles, should you forget to bring your own.
Can we run/walk as a group?
Yes. Absolutely. Take a look at the team or family special offers which are available online. Your group would need to be a minimum/multiple of 4 to receive the discounted rate.
What time can I arrive?
Registration will be open and we will be all set and ready to welcome you from 7.30am.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes of course, well behaved dogs on leads are very welcome but we would ask that those with dogs start after the runners and before the walkers.
Do I need to raise a certain amount of money?
Your entry fee covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you can raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation instead of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the team (01392 688020) and donate at any time!
Within the information pack and in the lead up to the event we will be giving you lots of alternative fundraising hints and tip suggestions to help you make a difference.
Can I Gift Aid my sponsorship?
You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by them ticking the gift aid box on the sponsorship form. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Please make sure your sponsors fill in their own full home address (not their work address) and postcode, otherwise we are unable to claim Gift Aid.
Can I hand in my sponsorship money on the day?
Yes! Please bring your sponsorship money with you on the day to hand in before the run/walk (cheques should be made payable to Hospiscare). This is the easiest way of handing in your sponsorship money or if you would prefer not to handle any money at all you can choose to set up an online page at www.everydayhero.co.uk/event/thebreakfastrun2018. The money comes directly to Hospiscare!
How old do I need to be?
The Breakfast Run is a family event and open to all ages. The child entry fee applies to children aged between 5-16 years.
An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the walk and we must have a signed parental consent form filled in by each under 16's legal parent or guardian.
For school and youth groups there must be a ratio of two adults per five pupils. The guardian must sign the registration form in the space provided and enter separately for the Breakfast Run. The registration forms must then be submitted together and the full entry fee is applicable for all entrants.
This event simply couldn’t happen without our incredible team of Hospiscare volunteers who give up their time to help us at our events.
Marshals needed: If you or someone you know would like to help with the Breakfast Run please call 01392 688020 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
