How can I take part in the Twilight Walk 2022?
This year, we are looking forward to our Twilight Walk returning to its more usual format where we will be gather and walk together for the first time in two years – we can’t wait!
However, for those not able to join us in Exmouth, or not yet ready to mingle, we do have Twilight Walk ‘Your Way’, where the distance, date and route are up to you. ‘Your Way’ walkers will receive a pack with all of the information you need and hints and tips on how to fundraise, as well as the all-important Twilight t-shirt that we hope you will wear with pride.
Besides my Twilight t-shirt, what should I wear?
Don’t forget you will be walking either 6 or 13 miles so appropriate footwear is a must. Here’s hoping for a balmy summer evening but the weather can be unpredictable, so wearing something versatile or layers of clothing is a good idea, especially as it gets cooler in the evening. The theme for this year’s event is glitter and sparkle – now is the time to shine!
What should I take on my Twilight Walk?
- A hydrating drink, such as water
- Your mobile phone
- A torch or light (parts of the cycle path aren’t lit)
- A portable phone charger if you have one
- Any snacks you might want to eat on the route
- A face mask and hand sanitiser are also things you may wish to consider
What is the terrain like at the Twilight Walk?
The 6 mile route is mostly flat and along even paths. The 13 mile route is slightly more hilly and due to the length of the walk, you may be returning in the dark. Both routes follow shared paths so please be aware of other pedestrians and cyclists.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome but you know your pooch best. Please be aware that the event arena can be busy and noisy so only bring your four-legged friend if they would enjoy this. Dogs should remain on a lead at all times and we would ask you to bring waste bags and use them, as well as a bowl and water to keep them hydrated.

Can I sign up on the day?
Signing up on the day will cost £25 and will be subject to availability
Do I need to raise sponsorship money?
Your entry fee only covers the cost of the event, so we ask each participant to raise sponsorship money or donate £50. Your fundraising or donation will make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and their families, for example £51 could fund a home visit from one of our specialist community nurses. We currently need your support more than ever.
How do I set up an online fundraising page?
The easiest way to get started with your fundraising is to set up a JustGiving.com page and share it with your friends and family on social media! Don’t worry if you haven’t done this before, we’ve already done some of the work for you! Just click here to set up your page.
Setting up a Facebook Fundraiser is easy and a great way to let friends near and far know you are taking part. Here’s a simple guide…
- Open the Facebook app
- At the bottom right, tap Menu
- Tap Fundraisers (it is in Community Resources)
- Tap Raise money
- Tap on the non-profit
- At the top right, tap Create
Can I Gift Aid my sponsorship?
You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by asking them to tick the Gift Aid box on the sponsorship form or tick the relevant section on JustGiving. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid as long as they’ve filled in their home (not work) address and postcode, otherwise we won’t be able to claim Gift Aid. If people are donating to your JustGiving page the option to Gift Aid will appear during the donation process.
How should I pay in my sponsorship?
Fundraising online via JustGiving (or other platforms) is really easy to do and the good news is that they automatically send us the money you’ve raised. If you’re fundraising offline and would like to pay in sponsorship money you can either: head to our donate page and select ‘I have taken part in a sponsored event’ as the reason for donation and write Twilight Walk in the box or send a cheque payable to Hospiscare, Searle House, Dryden Road, Exeter, EX2 5JJ along with your sponsorship form. Thank you!
How old do I need to be to take part in Twilight Walk?
We suggest that the Twilight Walk is suitable for entrants aged 12 and above, however younger participants may take part at their parent or guardian’s discretion. All under 18s must be registered with the permission of their legal guardian’
