Services for carers

If you are caring for someone with a terminal illness, Hospiscare can provide you with information, advice, complementary therapies, or simply the opportunity to talk to someone who understands.

We can also arrange for volunteers to sit with your terminally ill loved one at home, giving you the opportunity to take a little time for yourself.

If you are caring for someone with a life-threatening illness you can refer yourself to Hospiscare and access our carer support.

Carers' Support Groups

You can also attend support meetings which are held in various locations.  Please ask the nurse looking after your loved one for further details.

Our carers’ support groups enable you to meet others in the same situation, talk with Hospiscare nurses and have complementary therapy.

Visiting professionals give expert advice on topics such as: financial support, healthy eating, learning to relax, legal matters, understanding disease and medication and adapting your home.

If you would like to come, we can endeavour to arrange transport for you and find someone to stay with the person you are caring for.

Caring for Carers

For your interest and information we have placed a link here to some carers webpages developed in Ireland. This is a really helpful resource but you will notice some differences. Sometimes Irish services are mentioned which are different to ours. For example the webpages mention respite only services and they aren’t currently available here in England.

We would still recommend this as a good information source and support for carers to access directly.
