Hospiscare Heroes - From Hoop Challenges to Beard Shaves

Here at Hospiscare, we are extremely grateful to all of our supporters and we love to see the innovative ways that our Hospiscare Heroes find to fundraise for us! Read on for the latest updates on how our Hospiscare Heroes have been supporting our charity across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

A girl doing a hooping challenge for Hospiscare

A huge thank you to Bea Squires who set up her own 2.6 Challenge. Bea hula hooped for 26 minutes every day for 26 days and raised an amazing £433! Bea has been raising awareness and donations for Hospiscare for some time now by making and selling her own tea towels. Thank you Bea for continuing to support us during this difficult time.

Jamie Tallin beard shave before and after

Thank you also to Jamie Tallin who shaved his very impressive beard to raise money for our charity. Jamie raised a fantastic £570!

Black and white photo of a bike ride uphill

Thank you to Meg Hepworth, Julia Browne and the Tiverton Cycling Hub for organising a Lock Down Hill Climb; a challenge to ride a particular hill section the fastest between 1 and 10 May. What a fantastic idea and a brilliant way to fundraise for our local community. They raised £100.

Kentisbeare postcard with a mosaic of images

Thank you also to Elizabeth and Rupert Ballantyne who took photos around their village of Kentisbeare and used these to design a postcard to sell in the village. They raised a total of £110 for our charity.

Handmade bags for Hospiscare

Huge thanks to Christine and Wendy from Honiton who used recycled materials to make a quilt and three bags and sold these to raise money for our charity. They raised an amazing £82!

A woman running along Exmouth sea front

A massive thank you to Laura Sanders who opened her shop, LauryLee, in Ottery in January of this year. Laura had organised a coffee morning and cake sale for us in March, but due to her shop closing in the coronavirus pandemic, she was unable to hold her event.

Laura really wanted to help our charity despite this setback and decided to complete a virutal marathon by running along Exmouth sea front. So far, Laura has raised over £500 on her JustGiving page! Thank you Laura for finding a way to support us at this difficult time.

Finally, thank you to Ann-Marie Nowell and the staff and children at First Steps Nursery based at the RD&E in Exeter. They held a Silly Hair Day at the nursery and raised a total of £169.60. Many thanks for your support and fundraising efforts.

We love seeing all that you do for Hospiscare, so if you are planning any fundraising, please send us a direct message us on Facebook or email so that we can celebrate your efforts. We couldn't do what we do without you.
