Hospiscare Heroes - From Plant Sales to VE Day Celebrations

Here at Hospiscare, we are extremely grateful to all of our supporters and we love to see the innovative ways that our Hospiscare Heroes find to fundraise for us! Read on for the latest updates on how our Hospiscare Heroes have been supporting our charity across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Hospiscare supporter Paul Godfrey dressed as a French chef

Thank you to Paul Godfrey who continues to wear his French chef's outfit around Ottery at the weekends and is pictured above riding the "Otter Produce bicycle" to deliver fresh fruit and vegetables to the vulnerable people living in and around Ottery. Paul's outfit and his many fundraising efforts in support of Hospiscare are in memory of his dad, Brian, who was cared for on the ward at our Exeter hospice and at home by a Hospiscare Community Nurse Specialist.

DPD donation to Hospiscare

We are sending a huge thank you to DPD who sent us an amazing gift package of toiletries, sweets, chocolate and more for the patients and staff at our hospice. We are overwhelmed by their generosity at this difficult time.

Plant sale in aid of Hospiscare

Thank you also to Throwleigh Village who have been holding a Bring and Buy plant sale in the community in support of Hospiscare. People have really enjoyed being able to access plants so close to home and have so far raised an amazing £350 for our local charity. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and bought plants at the sale.

BATS theatre performance in aid of Hospiscare

Sending our thanks to BATS - Buckerell Amateur Theatre Society - for their donation to our local charity. Pictured above is their production of Beam Me Up Dotty, a riotous cornucopia of popular science fiction including Star Trek, Dr Who and Lost in Space.

Writer and producer of the shows, Sue Cade, said:

“As we aren’t anticipating another show in the future, we decided it was time to close the BATS bank account - and realised there was over £300 just sitting there.

“We’re delighted to donate this to our local charity Hospiscare, as we are aware that so many fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed.”

Hospiscare fundraiser for VE Day

Finally, thank you to all of the amazing families who took part in the VE Day "socially distanced afternoon cream tea celebration" in Longdogs Close. They raised an amazing £53.35 for our local charity.

Thank you also to Sarah Gibbons of Sarah's Creations who kindly made cakes in return for donations to Hospiscare, raising a further £40.

We love seeing all that you do for Hospiscare, so if you are planning any fundraising, please send us a direct message us on Facebook or email so that we can celebrate your efforts. We couldn't do what we do without you.
