Calling all Thrill Seekers: Wing Walk for Hospiscare this Valentine’s Day!

Hospiscare Wing Walk on a biplane

Hospiscare is offering the perfect opportunity to blow your loved one away this Valentine’s Day: flying over the Blackdown Hills at 135 mph strapped to the top wing of a vintage bi-plane! What could be more romantic?

Wing Walking for us could also be the perfect tribute to the memory of a loved one this Valentine’s Day. Becky Botfield, Events Fundraiser at Hospiscare, says,

“As a hospice, we see how difficult holidays like Valentine’s can be after losing a loved one. Taking on a challenge during this time can really give the sense of remembering your loved one. It’s also a brilliant way to have fun while raising funds for an incredibly worthwhile cause.”

The opportunity for this exhilarating adventure comes on 14 and 15 February and 21 July when we will be holding Wing Walking days at Dunkeswell Airfield, near Honiton. Our local hospice charity will be chalking up another first that day, as the first charity in Devon to offer an exclusive Wing Walking experience.

Hospiscare Wing Walk in mid air

Participants will be in the safe hands of Into the Blue, who will provide the training required to complete a 10-minute-long Wing Walking display. Those taking part are encouraged to bring their friends and family along to enjoy the spectacle.

Those seeking this ultimate thrill will want to sign up quickly to assure their place. There are few restrictions, although participants must weigh less than 77 kg (12 stone 2 lbs) and be fit enough to climb up to the rig (approximately 10 feet). The minimum age is 18 years and there is no upper age limit, but over-65s must have a doctor’s certificate. There is no height restriction.

To sign up and for more information on how to fundraise, call us on 01392 688020 or visit the event page. More information on the Wing Walk is available here.
