Hospiscare Heroes - From Triathlons to Wing Walks

Here at Hospiscare, we are extremely grateful to all of our supporters and we love to see the innovative ways that our Hospiscare Heroes find to fundraise for us! Read on for the latest updates on how our Hospiscare Heroes have been supporting our charity across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Chris cycling for Hospiscare in an Australian triathlon

A huge thank you to Chris for all of his fundraising efforts over the past months. Originally from Devon, Chris now lives in Australia and decided to take on some very challenging fundraising for our charity!

We are caring for Chris's uncle and even though Chris is thousands of miles away, he has supported Hospiscare by completing not one, but two triathlons in Oz!

Chris competed in the Upper Murray Challenge in October which involved a 28km mountain bike ride, a 26km kayak and a 23.5km run. Chris and his buddy Jake finished first in their category with a total time of 8.5 hours.

Chris also competed in the Noosa Triathlon in November, which happens to be the largest triathlon event in the world!

Chris explained, "Hospiscare is doing fantastic work by caring for and supporting my uncle and the family at home. I would like to raise as much money as possible to help this awesome charity continue."

Thank you Chris for all of your support and for raising a phenomenal $1010 AUS and £50.65.

Hospiscare coffee morning

Thank you also to Judy Mead and the ladies of St Leonards who held a Coffee Morning on 23 November at the Victoria Park Tennis Club. Their efforts raised over £1000 for our patients!

The ladies will also be opening their gardens for Hospiscare next summer, so watch this space!

Hospiscare Christmas light switch on

Sending a huge thank you to InExeter who very kindly donated to Hospiscare following Five Nights of Lights, the Christmas light switch on that took place in Exeter this year. We were picked as the charity partner for the event and we are extremely grateful to all of the team at InExeter for their donation.

Four homemade cakes

Thank you to Jeanette and the team at Ward Williams Associates for holding an inter-office Bake Off!

The challenge took place over four weeks with a different theme every week and raised £56.70 for Hospiscare. The overall winning bake (pictured above) was a light blue lemon sponge topped with meringue, white chocolate and coconut balls.

Thank you to Jeannette and all of those who took part (whether by baking or eating!); your support is hugely appreciated!

Hospiscare Christmas tree in a church

Finally, thank you to Steve Pearcy, David Roberts, Magpies and all of the Otter Vale Hospiscare Friends for organising the Christmas tree at the Christmas Tree Festival at the Parish Church. It looks stunning!

We love seeing all that you do for Hospiscare, so if you are planning any fundraising, please send us a direct message us on Facebook or email so that we can celebrate your efforts. We couldn't do what we do without you.
