Hospiscare Heroes - from lawn-mowing ponies to rugby training!

We have a bumper edition of the Hospiscare Heroes blog this week, with everything from lawn-munching ponies to rugby training with Rob Baxter!

Glynis and Liz Searle

A massive thank you goes to Liz Searle, who completed the London Marathon again this year, raising an incredible £12,403 for Hospiscare.

Holcombe Court

The beautiful grounds of Holcombe Court in Holcombe Rogus were open for Hospiscare over the bank holiday weekend, and visitors enjoyed strolling around the extensive grounds and coffee and cake in the sunshine.  Together they raised an amazing £2,400! Thanks to everyone involved.

Deer Park

Big thanks to the team at the Deer Park in Honiton who opened their grounds and lovely walled garden by donation to visitors on bank holiday Monday. The garden team were on hand to give a tour of the walled garden to visitors and many also stayed to a delicious lunch or afternoon tea, some of the proceeds of which also supported Hospiscare.  The whole event raised £400 for Hospiscare, and a lovely day was enjoyed by all.

Penrose House

Thanks also to Penrose House for their Open Garden in Crediton which raised an incredible £462 - a record breaking year for this lovely plantsman’s garden.

23 High Meadow

23 High Meadows opened for the first time this year and had a fabulous afternoon with a children’s trail, refreshments and guinea pigs and quail to entertain the visitors.

Springdale Smeathorpe

An enormous thank you to Anne and Graham at Springdale Smeatharpe who opened their garden for Hospiscare for the first time over the bank holiday and along with the support of the amazing ladies of the Smeatharpe WI raised an incredible £1,200 for our patients. What a fabulous afternoon out for our 150 visitors who even got to the meet the resident ponies (lawn mowers).

Lawn Mowing Ponies!

Huge thanks to also go to the Exeter Friends of Hospiscare and the Hospiscare Choir who joined together for a street collection in Exeter and raised an incredible £775.

Choir and the orchestra

We were so delighted to be the beneficiaries of the Joanna Leach Memorial Concert held in the Cathedral on the 26th May.  Huge thanks to the Isca Ensemble, the Exeter Choral Society and the Maynard Senior Choir (among others), who made it such a memorial occasion for the audience.

Choir in the Catherdral

A huge thank you also to Rob Baxter and the Paignton RFC Under 10s, who had a training session together at Sandy Park. Those in attendance made a donation and Rob Baxter choose Hospiscare as his charity of choice to receive the funds.
