Save your stamps for Hospiscare

At the end of May this year Hospiscare volunteer and stamp supremo Tony Coop sadly passed away.  Tony had a passion for stamp collecting for many years and in 1989 after his mother-in-law was cared for by Hospiscare nurses, Tony turned his passion into a serious fundraising mission.

Tony’s wife Jill said “Tony collected stamps for over 32 years and we used to have sheds full of stamps at home.  When Tony decided to raise money for Hospiscare by selling stamps he wrote to every business in Exeter asking them to donate their stamps and he placed adverts in magazines to sell them.

Tony's efforts over the years ended up in him raising in excess of £260,000 for Hospiscare.

During this time we’ve had other friends and family who were looked after by the charity so we know how vital the service is for local people.

I wanted to let everyone know that stamp collecting for Hospiscare is still ongoing, so please keep saving your stamps for Hospiscare.”

Anyone who wants to donate stamps can take them to any Hospiscare shop or to Searle House in Exeter, Kings House in Honiton or Pine Lodge in Tiverton.  If you’re interested in getting involved further please call 01392 688020 or email
