Hospiscare@Home: Responding to the needs of our local communities

Trustees from all three charities

After caring for people with life-limiting illnesses since the 1980s, the trustees of three local charities: Hospiscare Exeter, Mid & East Devon; Hospiscare Exmouth & Lympstone; and Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare, are delighted to announce the launch of an additional service in June – Hospiscare@Home.

Hospiscare@Home will supplement the excellent service the fantastic Clinical Nurse Specialists already provide and will bring the expertise of the hospice into the home. The new team of nurses will work under the guidance of the Clinical Nurse Specialists enabling more patients to remain at home during times of crisis and also at the very end of life if that is their wish. The nurses will be able to provide practical help and support for both patients and carers enabling independence, maintaining dignity and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions. They will be available for advice and visits 24 hours a day 365 days a year and the service fills the gap between acute hospital care and the care offered by other support agencies.

The nurses will be based at the Highview Centre in Exmouth which is being extended to accommodate the new team.

Hospiscare@Home will be available to patients with life-limiting illnesses registered with GPs in Exmouth, Lympstone, Budleigh Salterton and Woodbury Medical Practices.
As with the current Clinical Nurse Specialist service the nurses will be provided by Hospiscare Exeter, Mid & East Devon but the salaries and other expenses will be jointly funded by Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare and Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare.

Hospiscare@Home is a charitable service that works in partnership with local health and social services. To continue offering Hospiscare@Home, we need your help.
