Hospices are not about dying. They are about living. They are about making every moment count. They are about creating memories. They are life changing.
A great example of this happened last week at Hospiscare, where patients visiting the day services at Kings House in Honiton had a delightful visit from Sharon and Vicky who run Sharandy’s Birds of Prey.
Sharon and Vicky, offer a complete ‘hands on’ experience, where you get the opportunity to handle, meet and fly magnificent Birds of Prey.
The patients at Kings House were delighted to be able to have a “one on one” meeting with the birds, and were then thrilled when the birds took flight inside the building skimming over their heads.
It’s moments like this when hospices are full of awe and laughter and unique, life affirming moments happen.
Toni Hiscocks, Assistant Practitioner, Kings House Day Hospice said: “We would like to thank Sharon and Vicky from Sharandy’s Birds of Prey for giving our patients this wonderful and hugely memorable experience. Meeting the birds of prey was so uplifting and everyone really enjoyed it. We all got the opportunity to hold the birds and it was a genuinely magical experience. Seeing the birds flying around the room and perching on people’s hands was just brilliant."
