Hospiscare is a UK registered charity, No. 297798.  We’re also registered as a company limited by guarantee, No. 02164215. Our registered address is: Hospiscare, Searle House, Dryden Road, Exeter, Devon, EX2 5JJ.

Our trustees and senior managers

Hospiscare is governed by a Board of Trustees, which has overall responsibility for the hospice. Our Senior Management Team, lead by our CEO, Andrew Randall, reports to the board and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation.

Together, our board and management work to ensure our care continues to meet the outstanding standard expected of Hospiscare, now and into the future. Read our Annual Report 2022 by clicking here.

Our regulators

Hospiscare complies with a number of different regulators. These include the Care Quality Commission (CQC), The Charity Commission, Companies House, Gambling Commission and Fundraising Regulator.

Our Registered Manager and Safeguarding Lead is Ann Rhys, Hospiscare’s Clinical Director.  Our Caldicott Guardians are Dr Jenny Hayes and Ruth Wills.

Our sister charities

We merged with Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare in 2019. We work closely with our sister charity Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare, which helps to fund some of our services, including Hospiscare@Home, and with other charities and services in our area.

Equal opportunities

We believe in equal opportunities. We have committed to the Disability Confident and Stonewall Champions schemes and enable flexible working practices where possible.

Gender Pay Gap Report

Hospiscare is committed to pay scales which reward staff for the role within the organisation irrespective of gender. Hospiscare has a gender pay gap of -6.8%. This means that, on average, female members of staff are paid 6.8% more than men. In producing this analysis, it is apparent that Hospiscare employs proportionately more men in lower quarter roles. This is due to clinical roles within the charity attracting a higher salary and typically being staffed by females compared to those within the organisation’s retail structure which tends to have a more balanced staffing blend but lower rates of pay.

Hospiscare is committed to Equality and Diversity. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society, our local communities and our patients. We want everyone who works for us to feel respected and able to give their best and to achieve their full potential. All Hospiscare roles are evaluated against a set criteria to ensure that they are fairly and consistently remunerated based on required skills and knowledge, and overall responsibility. Hospiscare applies pay rates equally to all genders and seeks to recruit the best person for each individual role.

The Board of Trustees confirm that the data used in calculating the gender pay gap information was produced in line with the UK Governments requirements. Brian Aird, Chair of Trustees
