Your will be given water and chocolate prior to the walk and once the walk has been completed you will of course receive your free supper consisting of a bacon bap/veggie alternative with a hot drink. Also within the event area prior to setting off 'Big Bear Coffee' will be selling hot beverages & also an ice-cream van, both who will be donating a percentage of their takings to Hospiscare.

What is the route of the walk?

Please click here for the 5 or 10 mile route maps.

What is the route of the 5K Fizz Run?

Please click here for more info.

What is the terrain like for the Twilight Walk?

Relatively flat, the worst hill is at the very start of the walk – Foxholes. It is narrow along Exeter Road (for the 10 mile walkers) where single file walking is required.

What is the terrain like for the 5K Fizz Run?

Flat along the seafront.

Can I take part in both the run and the walk?

If you would like to challenge yourself to do both then yes, of course! You'll pay only one entry fee and in return will receive one t-shirt, one glass of fizz and one supper!

How long will the walk take?

At an average pace of 20 minutes per mile the walk should take 1hr 40mins for the 5 miles and 3hrs 20 mins for the 10 mile route. You should therefore look to complete the 5 mile route at or around 8.10pm and the 10 miles by approximately 9.50pm.

What happens if I cannot finish the walk/run?

If you cannot finish either the walk or the run and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe.

Will it be safe?

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on, fully charged and with plenty of credit on it.  The route will be marshalled and signed.

Will there be first aid facilities?

We will have first aiders available at The Maer and out on both routes of the walk.

Will there be toilets on the route?

Toilet facilities will be available at The Maer, Manor Gardens and at the Imperial Recreational Ground exit.

What should I wear?

We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers! Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well-worn in.

You will of course collect at the event arena your pink t-shirt. Comfortable bottoms to walk in are also important; shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer.

Will I be able to buy merchandise at the event arena?

Yes, we will have a range of pink-themed products on sale on the day, with all profits made going to Hospiscare.

Can we walk as a group?

Yes. Absolutely. When registering as a group please fill in a team entry form and tell us your team name. To take advantage of the group offer (£15 each), your team needs to be a multiple of/minimum of four.

What time can I arrive?

Registration will be open and we will be all set and ready to welcome you from 4.30pm.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes of course, well behaved dogs on leads are very welcome. If you plan to take your dog with you on the 5K Fizz, you will need to start at the back of the runners.

Do I need to raise a certain amount of money?

Your entry fee covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you can raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation instead of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the team (01392 688020) and donate at any time!

Your information pack will include a sponsorship form and we would encourage everyone to set up an online giving page at www.everydayhero.co.uk/event/thetwilightwalk2018.

Within the information pack and in the lead up to the event we will be giving you lots of alternative fundraising hints and tip suggestions to help you make a difference.

Can I Gift Aid my sponsorship?

You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by them ticking the gift aid box on the sponsorship form. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Please make sure your sponsors fill in their own full home address (not their work address) and postcode, otherwise we are unable to claim Gift Aid.

Can I hand in my sponsorship money on the day?

Yes! Please bring your sponsorship money with you on the day to hand in before the run/walk (cheques should be made payable to Hospiscare). This is the easiest way of handing in your sponsorship money or if you would prefer not to handle any money at all you can choose to set up an online page at www.everydayhero.co.uk/event/thetwilightwalk2018. The money comes directly to Hospiscare!

How old do I need to be?

The Twilight Walk and 5K Fizz Run are open to entrants aged 12 and over. An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the walk and we must have a signed parental consent form filled in by each under 16's legal parent or guardian.

For school and youth groups there must be a ratio of two adults per five pupils. The guardian must sign the registration form in the space provided and enter separately for the Twilight Walk. The registration forms must then be submitted together and the full entry fee is applicable for all entrants.
