Our runners will exit the Maer turning right onto Maer Road. At the mini roundabout turn right onto Queens Drive and run the entire length of the seafront. At the end of the seafront you will loop around the marina and return back along the seafront to The Maer, passing all the walkers.
Relatively flat, the hardest part is Foxholes Hill at the very start of the walks. It is narrow along Exeter Road (for the 10 mile walkers only) where single file walking is required.
Nice and flat along the scenic seafront.
Due to the scorching heat of 2018, we have moved the run so that this will commence half an hour after the walkers set off (7pm), therefore it will not be possible to take part in both.
At an average pace of 20 minutes per mile the walk should take 1hr 40mins for the 5 miles and 3hrs 20 mins for the 10 mile route. You should therefore look to complete the 5 mile route at or around 8.10pm and the 10 miles by approximately 9.50pm.
If you cannot finish either the walk or the run and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe.
Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on, fully charged and with plenty of credit on it. The route will be marshalled and signed.
We will have first aiders available at The Maer and out on both routes of the walk.
Toilet facilities will be available at The Maer, Manor Gardens and at the Imperial Recreational Ground exit.
We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers! Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well-worn in.
You will receive your t-shirt approximately a week before the event. Comfortable bottoms to walk in are also important; shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer.

Your entry fee covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you can raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation instead of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the team (01392 688020) and donate at any time!
Within the information pack and in the lead up to the event (via email) we will be giving you lots of alternative fundraising hints and tip suggestions to help you make a difference.
You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by them ticking the gift aid box on the sponsorship form. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Please make sure your sponsors fill in their own full home address (not their work address) and postcode, otherwise we are unable to claim Gift Aid.
Yes please! You can bring your sponsorship money with you on the day and hand in before the run/walk (cheques should be made payable to Hospiscare). Alternatively you can pay via debit/credit card. If you would prefer not to handle any money at all then please set up a JustGiving online page, where all the money you raise will come directly to Hospiscare.
The Twilight Walk and 5K Fizz Run are open to entrants aged 12 and over. An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the walk/run and we must have a signed parental consent form filled in by each under 16's legal parent or guardian.
For school and youth groups there must be a ratio of two adults per five pupils. The guardian must sign the registration form in the space provided and enter separately for the Twilight Walk. The registration forms must then be submitted together and the full entry fee is applicable for all entrants.
