Yes. In advance entry (via online or by calling into the fundraising office) will close on Tuesday 10 March, however you can sign up on the day within the Event Arena for £35 per individual, subject to this event not being a 'SELL OUT', as it has been in the past. We reserve the right to close online registrations early in this instance.
Refreshments will be offered along the route and once the walk has been completed you will of course receive your free pint and hot pasty. If this is not sufficient, further food and beverages can be purchased from the Double Locks.
This linear route will start at the Double Locks pub and you will walk along the canal path towards Bridge Road swing-bridge. On Bridge Road you will turn left and join Countess Wear Road (on the left) and follow the paths back along the River Exe as far as Miller's Crossing Bridge, where you will cross the river and walk back to the Double Locks along the opposite side of the river.
The walk is mainly flat along public footpaths. It is narrow in places where single file walking is required. Care must be taken when walking alongside the canal and river. This route is suitable for wheelchairs.
The walk should take 2.5 - 3 hrs at an average pace.
If you cannot finish the walk and feel you might need to stop, you may pull out at any point. Please tell your nearest volunteer marshal who will be able to assist you. If you need to pull out please notify us so that we know that you are safe.
Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on and fully charged. The route will be marshalled and signed throughout.
Yes, we will have first aiders available at the Double Locks and out on the route of the walk. Please inform a marshal should you require first aid attention.
Toilet facilities will be available at the Double Locks and on the route there are public toilets just before The Waterfront public house on the Exeter Quay.
We recommend that you wear comfortable trainers! Blisters are not fun for anyone. Please make sure that whatever footwear you decide to walk in are well-worn in.
Comfortable bottoms to walk in are also important; shorts, leggings or trousers. Whatever you prefer.
Yes. Absolutely. When registering as a group each participant needs to state their own details on the form. Tell us your team name and let us know how you have raised money in a group.

Yes of course, man`s best friends are very welcome so long as they are kept on a lead. And please make sure you clear up after them.
Your entry fee only covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you can raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation in lieu of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the team (01392 688020) and donate either before or after the day.
Your welcome letter will include a sponsorship form and we would encourage everyone to set up a Just Giving page. Just Click here to get started!
With the welcome letter we will be giving you lots of alternative fundraising hints and tip suggestions to help you make a difference.
You can ask each person who sponsors you to Gift Aid their donation by asking them to tick the gift aid box on the sponsorship form. Any personal donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Please make sure your sponsors fill in their own full home address (not their work address) and postcode, otherwise we are unable to claim Gift Aid.
Yes! Please bring your sponsorship money with you on the day to hand in before the walk. Cheques should be made payable to Hospiscare please or if easier you can pay via debit or credit card.
If you would prefer not to handle any money at all you can choose to set up an online page at JustGiving where the money will come directly to Hospiscare!
Entry for the Men's Walk is open to entrants aged 12 and over. An adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the walk and we must have a signed parental consent form filled in by each under 16's legal parent or guardian.
For school and youth groups there must be a ratio of two adults per five pupils. The guardian must sign the registration form in the space provided and enter separately for the Men's Walk. The registration forms must then be submitted together and the full entry fee is applicable for all entrants.
There's limited free parking at the Double Locks pub and at Bromhams Farm Playing Fields. We suggest that you car share and use either on-road parking in Marsh Barton, or the Matford Park and Ride.
