Hospiscare’s annual Coffee Morning event is now under way. Throughout the area, people are signing up to raise funds for the local charity by holding coffee mornings in their homes, community halls and even their local parks. Businesses, too, are getting ready to bake cakes and boil the kettle for Hospiscare.
Last year, Hospiscare supporters held more than 100 coffee mornings, together raising over £15,000. The charity is hoping to beat that target this year and hoping to raise a whopping £30,000.

Event organiser, Lianne Harding said: “Above all, we want people to enjoy themselves while they raise funds for us. You don’t have to ‘go to town’ with baking – we’re not all Devon’s answer to Mary Berry – and there are many ways to make your coffee morning a success.
“For example, you could ask your friends to bake some cakes and bring them or even buy them – there’s no shame in that! You could also have a bric-a-brac stall, hold a raffle with a small prize, or have a ‘guess the number of beans in a jar’ – these are great ways to boost your fundraising total.

“There are many more excellent ideas in our Coffee Morning pack, so call us on 01392 688020 or visit www.putthekettleon.org.uk and get planning. All the money raised will go towards the support and care of local patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.”
Hospiscare provides outstanding specialist care for adults with terminal illnesses, and support for their carers and families in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. Each year Hospiscare needs to raise more than £6 million of voluntary income and depends on the support of local people to do so. A gift to Hospiscare in your Will helps to ensure the future of the charity for generations to come.
