Yes, online registration will close on Wednesday 18 September. You can secure your space by calling 01392 688095 up until 3:00pm on Friday 20 September. Spaces are limited so provided this event doesn’t sell out we will sell tickets on the night.
Hospiscare will provide you with a hot drink when you finish the walk. The Double Locks will be open as usual where food and drink is available.
You will be walking a 3 mile circular route. Leaving the Double Locks you will walk up river to the Exeter Quay, crossing the bridge opposite Samuel Jones, you will then return on the opposite side of the river.
The walk is level and predominantly on tarmac paths and footpaths. It is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
There is an accessible toilet at the Double Locks and access through the pub to the event marquee. Please note there are some gravelled areas in the pub grounds.
Most definitely! Dogs on leads are very welcome at the event. It will be a busy environment with lots of people, you will know best whether your four legged friend would enjoy coming along.
Everyone is welcome. This is regardless of whether your loved one was cared for by Hospiscare or not, how long ago they died or what your relationship to them was. Children are very welcome (under 16’s accompanied by an adult). We wish to extend a special welcome to those attending on their own, you won’t be alone, we have a team of people to welcome you and ensure everyone is included. Staff from the hospice will be walking, so anyone wishing to walk in a group will be able to join and walk as part of a team.
Yes. If the walk is a bit too long you are welcome to stay at the marquee where there will be staff on hand. Drink and food is available in the pub.
Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We do ask that you bring your mobile phone if you have one, and that it is switched on and charged. The route will be marshalled and sign posted.
We have first aid trained staff and volunteers at the event, in the case of an emergency 999 will be called.
There are toilets at the Double Locks and also public conveniences at the Quay (on the returning side of the river).
Whatever is comfortable and suitable for the weather conditions on the day. This is an informal event so jeans, trainers - whatever you feel most comfortable in.
Sunset is at 7.15pm on the day of the event so it will be dark when you leave to go home. If you have a torch you may like to pop it in your pocket. During the walk the light should be dimming but you will have your lantern and this will be sufficient to see you back to the pub.
Arrival is from 4.30pm and we will start the event by gathering in the marquee at 5.30pm.
Your entry fee covers the cost of the event. Therefore any funds you raise or donate over and above your entry fee is greatly appreciated. If you would rather make a donation instead of raising sponsorship, there is an option to donate upon registering or you can call the fundraising team (01392 688020) and donate at any time!
