Bereavement Events


When someone you love has died, it's easy to feel isolated. That's why Hospiscare run a number of bereavement events to support you through this time and help you connect with others who might be going through a similar experience. 
 

N.B. We apologise that our face-to-face bereavement events and groups are currently suspended to protect our patients and their families and our staff and volunteers. Our bereavement team remains able to support you by telephone on 01392 688008.

Drop in Tea at Searle House

Open to anyone who has been bereaved with Hospsicare, this is an informal group that gives you the chance to join us for a cup of tea and have a chat with others who might be in a similar situation. It is held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 4-5:30pm at Searle House in Exeter and our trained Hospiscare bereavement volunteers will be there too. 
 

Drop in Tea at Pine Lodge

This is an informal group that provides a chance for anyone who has been bereaved to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat. It is held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 4pm at Pine Lodge in Tiverton and our trained Hospiscare bereavement volunteers will be there too.

Knit and Natter

Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2-4pm at Kings House in Honiton for this informal knit and natter session. This group is open to anyone who has been bereaved. 
 

Bereavement Support Walks

Join us one morning a month to enjoy our beautiful countryside. Offering a short distance easy walk along some of Devon’s beautiful routes, you could fins mutual support and a possible benefit to your wellbeing. You will be guided by a qualified walking group leader and supported by trained Hospiscare bereavement volunteers.

The walks take place on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 10am. You will need to be able to walk the distance unaided, wear suitable walking clothes and shoes and bring water and refreshments. Dogs on leads are welcome. To book your place or find out more please call 01392688068. These events are open to anyone who has been bereaved.

HEAL Group

This is a group of people who have all experienced losing someone very special in their life and the group meets every month to support, encourage and find a way forward. The atmosphere is relaxed and we encourage you to join us-just turn up!

If you would like more information before you come, phone 01392688008. We meet on the first Monday of the month at the Cat & Fiddle Inn, Clyst St Mary EX5 1DP at 7:30pm (except if the Monday falls on a bank holiday then it would be the second Monday). This group is open to anyone who has been bereaved. Come and join us for a drink or supper at the pub. 

 

Other events and groups
 

Hospiscare also runs various events that are open to anyone in the extended Hospiscare family, regardless of whether you have been bereaved or not. Though the below events are not specifically designed for people who have lost someone, they all provide a supportive environment and you might find it helpful to come along. 
 

Everyday Matters Drop In Café

Come along to our pop up café, bring your friends or come on your own and make new ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone who is part of Hospiscare’s extended family. It is held every Tuesday from 10am-12:30pm at Searle House in Exeter, and there is a small cash charge for refreshments.
 

Kings House Café

Runs weekly on a Wednesday from 10am-12:30pm at Kings House in Honiton. Bring your friends for for tea, coffee and cake or come on your own and make new friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone who is part of Hospiscare’s extended family. There is a small cash charge for refreshments.
 

Film Club

The film club is held every second Tuesday of the month. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm film start. Join us for a movie accompanied by tea, coffee, popcorn, or even a glass of wine!

Hospiscare Choir

Based in Exeter the choir includes Hospiscare staff, doctors, nurses, volunteers, friends, families and supporters and meets every Tuesday from 4:45pm-6:30pm during term time.

There are no auditions and you don’t have to read music – it’s all about the enjoyment of singing together.
