Originally qualified as a general nurse and midwife with post graduate qualifications in human resource (HR) management, Sue spent 40 years working in the health service until her retirement in 2010.
She has significant leadership, governance and management experience gained through over 20 years operating at Board level as an executive director in HR, nursing and operations at a range of public sector organisations including 5 years as the Chief Executive of UK Transplant and 5 years as the Chief Executive of Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
She was awarded the OBE in 2006 for services to organ donation and transplantation.
With additional experience as a non-executive board member she is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bournemouth University and the Vice Chairman of Hospiscare. She continues to work as an independent health care management consultant.
