Devonshire Homes

When Tiverton-based housebuilder Devonshire Homes decided to make Hospiscare their adopted charity in 2015 they set themselves a fundraising target of £10,000

They wanted to support a Devon-based good cause and knew that Hospiscare touched local lives by helping terminally ill patients and their families.

They surpassed their target several months before the year-end, eventually raising more than £12,000, and were recognised as the business raising the most money per head of staff in the construction sector.

“We were delighted,” said Devonshire Homes Managing Director, Steve Russell.  “Pleased to raise the sum we had set as the target but also by how our staff threw themselves so enthusiastically into the fundraising events.”

Lots of fun

As well as donating £50 from each open market house sale, the company’s 30 strong personnel collectively baked cakes, ran half marathons and held theme days such as all wearing blue clothing.  “We had a lot of fun together while raising the money and I think all my colleagues would agree it was as good team-building as any formal staff bonding exercise,” said Steve.

“Hospiscare is a local Devon-based charity close to all our hearts and many of us know of family or friends who have been helped by the amazing work it does.  We all came together to do the best we could to raise the money and the experience has been nothing but a positive one for the company.  Everyone from the Chairman to our newest apprentice has played their part and joined in.”
