Accessibility

Hospiscare recognises the importance of providing a website that is accessible to all user groups, including the disabled. We have implemented the following accessibility features on this website to make it easier to use by people with disabilities.

Alternative Styles

The default styling for the website uses mostly black text on a white background with headers and links generally coloured orange. We have also developed an alternative style scheme which should assist if you are having trouble reading the general text, various headings and links. The styles can be alternated by using the links below (you need only choose this style once, and your choice will be activated throughout the site):

Font Sizes

You may also change the font size of this website to your preference through your browser:

  • In Internet Explorer, select View, then Text Size, and then your preferred size.
  • In Netscape select View, then Text Zoom, and then your preferred percentage size.
  • In Mozilla Firefox select View, then Text Size, and then Increase/Decrease.
  • In Mozilla select View, then Text Zoom, and then your preferred percentage size.
  • In Opera select View, then Zoom, and then your preferred percentage size.
Navigation Shortcuts

There is a short menu at the start of every page that allows you to jump directly to key navigation areas. Sighted people who use the keyboard to navigate will see these links appear on screen when using the Tab key to navigate through the page.

Each shortcut has an access key assigned.

Access Keys

In browsers that support them, access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use the mouse for navigation.
In Internet Explorer on Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. Then press Enter to activate the link.

The following access keys are available throughout the website:

1
Jump to Homepage
2
Jump to Site Map
3
Jump to Accessibility and Help Information
4
Jump to Contact Us
Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive alt attributes. Purely decorative graphics include empty alt attributes. Header images exist as background graphics, and therefore alt attributes are deemed unnecessary.

The header images can be switched on and off (display or not displayed) as required using the "Header Image" switch on the top menu (this will allow more content to fit on your screen).

Links

Where appropriate, links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail and to advise you if the link will open in a new window.

Printing

Should you wish to print pages from our site then we would recommend using the "print friendly" button in the top right corner. You will then see a preview of the page with the majority of it's graphical and coloured content removed. Once printed you can then select the "close print friendly" button in the top right corner to return the site to its former styling.
