I would like to be a Hospiscare volunteer
We are looking forward to meeting you already! There is, as ever, a little bit of paperwork to do first. There are two ways you can apply:
You will find that we ask for basic information and for two referees - a friend or colleague, for example. We're sure you will understand that as we are working with such vulnerable patients, we check everyone who works here, including volunteers.
What happens next?
When we have received your application form, we will follow up your references and then arrange to see you to talk it over.
Can anyone volunteer?
Yes, we welcome applications from anyone interested in volunteering with us. Where possible we will match your interest and skills to our needs and opportunities.
However, anyone who has experienced a recent bereavement should consider very carefully before volunteering with us. We suggest you should give yourself at least a year after your loss.
Further checks
In certain areas of work volunteers are required under the Care Standards Act 2000 to apply for disclosure through the Criminal Records Bureau. If necessary, we will provide you with an information pack explaining the process.
Before you start
We will provide you with the help, support and guidance you need. All volunteers attend a short course to prepare for work with Hospiscare and receive training and support tailored to their role.
