A day out
Hospiscare's day centres are warm, friendly and caring. Patients have nursing care and support for the day, plus enjoy a wide range of therapies and activities.
Many people find they benefit from the mutual support of sharing experiences with others in a similar situation. It also gives families and carers a welcome break.
Patients are looked after for the day by qualified nursing and support staff, as well as specially trained volunteers.
Centre of care
At a day centre, patients can access Hospiscare's expertise, and enjoy some personal comfort in a place where people understand the difficulties of coping with an illness.
Day patients can benefit from talking to our nurses, having a massage or assisted bath, enjoying hair and hand care, a freshly prepared meal or taking part in creative activities.
How do I join a day centre?
Ask your Hospiscare nurse if you would like to attend a day centre. A day centre nurse will visit you, and allocate you a place in an appropriate centre. Patients attend a regular weekly session, and the placement is reviewed after six months.
A family member, carer or friend can accompany patients on their first visit and are invited in at various times throughout the year.
