Why does Hospiscare have a chaplain?
The hospice chaplain is there for patients and families to help them with the challenges that a terminal illness can bring.
He is an integral part of the team that care for patients at the hospice. He also supports carers and the bereavement team.
Who does he help?
Our chaplain coordinates spiritual support for everyone, of any faith or none. There are many questions that people have when they have are appraoching the end of life, that he can help to listen to and talk through.
Our chaplain is also there for staff and volunteers, supporting them in their own faiths and to help them support patients and families.
What about other faiths?
Whilst our chaplain holds Christian services, he also coordinates care with other faiths, often forging links with local networks to re-connect patients.
Where is the chaplain available?
Our chaplain is based at the hospice in Exeter, but also visits our day centres in Tiverton and Seaton. The Hospiscare chapel is always open for prayer and offers a quiet space to all.
