Bringing the hospice to the hospital
Hospiscare has a small team of specialist nurses and doctors who work closely with the medical and nursing teams looking after patients in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Hospiscare's specialist nurses visit patients on the ward, and have time to discuss how they feel, their illness, treatment, and medication. The Hospiscare doctors are available to see patients if needed.
They can suggest ways of helping with whatever the concerns are - whether physical discomfort or worries about current or future care.
They work closely with all healthcare professionals involved in the care during their stay in hospital and when they go home.

Our nurses at the Hospital can arrange further support for patients from other Hospiscare professionals who work in the community visiting patients at home.
Education for others
Hospiscare nurses at the RD&E Hospital are dedicated to providing specialist education and training in palliative and end-of-life care, to improve care for all patients with a terminal diagnosis.
