New look for Hospiscare lottery

Re-branding marks 30th anniversary

A new man at the helm is spearheading a major rebranding of the Hospiscare lottery to mark the charity’s 30th anniversary in 2012.

Chris Routley has brought more than twenty years experience in retail management to his new role as Hospiscare’s Lottery Manager.

“The lottery is a great product for a great local cause but it was clear to me that modernisation was needed,” explains Chris. “When I joined the charity, you could only sign up as a regular player by post. My first task was to secure a remote licence so people can now sign up with one, quick phone call. The next step for 2012 is to facilitate sign-up on-line.”

Chris said he had undertaken key research to decide on rebranding for the lottery, giving it a crisp, new look along with a new marketing strategy to tie in with the celebration of the charity’s 30th anniversary.

“2012 is a very big year for Hospiscare so it seemed the right time to forge ahead with a big, new push for the lottery,” said Chris. “It’s an excellent platform for Hospiscare. My goal is very clearly to find the most efficient and cost-effective way to encourage more players to support a lottery which not only offers a fabulous prize but which is also raising vital funds for local patients and their families.”

The Hospiscare lottery, which offers a weekly top prize of £1,000, currently has more than 9,000 regular players and in the last financial year made more than £282,000 profit for the charity.

Tickets are available from Hospiscare’s 18 charity shops or you can sign up to play regularly by phoning 01392 688025 or email p.cox@hospiscare.co.uk

The lottery’s mascot – an elephant called Lottie – remains a popular marketing feature and makes regular appearances with celebrities on the charity’s website and facebook pages. www.hospicare.co.uk
