New flagship store for Hospiscare

A charity shop for our times

Flagship store opening in ExeterLocal charity Hospiscare launched a stunning new flagship store in Exeter with an appeal to help decide its décor.

With 3,500 square feet, the department-style shop in Fore Street opened on Thursday, Dec 15th with a huge internal wall set aside for design by local street artists.

The bold, new Hospiscare venture is part of a retail expansion to tie in with the launch of a new house-clearance service.

“This new Fore Street branch is very much a charity shop for our times,” explained Hospiscare’s head of retail Helen Hutter. “It is a stunning new space offering furniture, clothes and goods for the home, laid out just like a department store. We have a fabulous, large wall which is just crying out for great art and so we are inviting local artists to submit designs.”

Helen explained that the shop expansion tied in with Hospiscare’s popular new house-clearance service which was a carefully-considered green initiative.

“In these difficult times people do not have the spare cash or the inclination to be part of a throw-away society,” said Helen. “Our house clearance service and 18 charity shops offer recycling in a way which truly benefits the local community. Customers get a bargain while knowing that all profits are used by Hospiscare to make a real difference to local patients and their families.”

Helen added that the huge exhibition wall at the new shop was a great opportunity to involve the local community and the new venture required lots more volunteers … and donations.

Anyone who can offer time, goods or a design for the wall should contact h.hutter@hospiscare.co.uk
