Nearly 200 keen swimmers have already signed up for a one-mile open water swim for local charity Hospiscare. And wishing them well is Exeter’s champion swimmer Liam Tancock, who has been taking part in the World Championships in Shanghai.
Liam posed with Hospiscare’s lottery mascot Lottie while undertaking some training of his own. “It’s great to see so many people preparing for a charity event like this. I wish everyone good luck,” he said.
Hospiscare’s popular one-mile event is in its third year and will see swimmers complete their challenge at Roadford Lake, near Okehampton on Saturday September 24th.
Compere for the event is popular broadcaster Matt Young of Exeter FM and Rokk Xpress.
The event is being supported by a range of local companies including Exeter Family Friendly, Thrifty Car and Van rental, Mole Valley Farmers, Bishop Fleming, Drew Pearce and Dorset Cereals who are providing energy bars for all participants.
The swim entry is now closed. Full details are available at www.onemileswim.co.uk
Last year 400 swimmers took part raising £40,000 for Hospiscare which supports patients and their families across Exeter, mid and East Devon.
