There will be two types of events on offer:
A whole day is offered to different groups of registered staff who are frequently dealing with end of life care as part of their role and helping people make decisions about their care before and after their death
A half day introduction to ACP is also offered to staff who need to understand the basic principles of ACP and how they will be supporting patients and families in their decisions about care.
Events will include:
- Understanding the process of advanced care planning process
- Awareness and understanding ofInformed consent, legal status and ethical implications to include the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Communicating sensitively and effectively with patients, families and other professionals and teams
- Establishing and assessing wishes and preferences
